New Possibility Unlocked: Accra Indie Filmfest Partners with São Paulo Short Film Festival for “African Showcase”

In an exciting development for African cinema, the Accra Indie Filmfest (AIF) has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the São Paulo International Short Film Festival (Curta Kinoforum) to curate a special African Showcase as part of the festival’s 35th edition. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in promoting African storytelling on a global stage.

The African Showcase will feature four standout short films from the 6^th edition of Accra Indie Filmfest (AiF), highlighting the diverse and dynamic voices emerging from the continent. These films, which were selected from the 2024 edition of the Accra Indie Filmfest, will be screened at the São Paulo Short Film Festival, offering audiences in Brazil a unique glimpse into African narratives and cultures. These four short films are as follows.

1.”Cookie Box”, a Ghana/Malta co-production directed by Adam Zurawiecki,

2. “Baby Something” directed by Nicole Amateifio and representing Ghana

3.”The Collector” representing Kenya and directed by Andrews Evans Omolo

4. “The Prophecy” a student narrative film directed by Rehanna Ngom representing Senegal. 

This partnership not only amplifies the visibility of African films but also strengthens cultural ties between the two regions, fostering greater appreciation and understanding through the art of cinema.
