The Accra Indie Filmfest (AiF) is proud to announce the 8th edition of its annual international short film festival, scheduled to take place from 27th to 31st July 2026 in Accra, Ghana. This year’s theme, “Resilience in Motion” celebrates the enduring spirit of filmmakers and creative practitioners who continue to tell powerful stories, adapt to change, and push artistic boundaries in the face of evolving global challenges.
At a time when the creative landscape is being reshaped by technological disruption, economic uncertainty, and shifting audience behaviours, Resilience in Motion reflects the determination of storytellers who remain in constant movement innovating, resisting, and redefining cinema on their own terms. It also acknowledges the unwavering commitment behind festival itself, particularly within emerging ecosystems where sustaining creative platforms requires vision, community, and so much grit.
Since its inception in 2019, Accra Indie Filmfest has grown into one of Africa’s leading platforms for independent short films and cross-cultural exchange. From navigating the complexities of the pandemic through digital and hybrid editions to expanding its global footprint, AiF has consistently championed bold storytelling, inclusivity, and the discovery of new voices.
The 2026 edition promises an immersive 5-day programme featuring curated film screenings, masterclasses, panel discussions, industry networking events, live performances, music concert, and the festival’s signature awards ceremony. Each programme is carefully designed to inspire dialogue, foster collaboration, and strengthen connections between African filmmakers and the global creative community.
Building on the success of previous editions, AiF will continue to expand its industry-facing initiatives, including the AiF Talent Connect, a dynamic platform for emerging filmmakers to present works-in-progress, gain visibility, and access international opportunities.
With submissions expected from across the globe, the 8th edition is set to deliver a diverse and compelling selection of films that reflect the richness, complexity, and resilience of contemporary storytelling. Official selections will be unveiled in the coming week.
Accra Indie Filmfest remains a non-profit initiative dedicated to empowering independent filmmakers and strengthening Africa’s position within the global film ecosystem.
Through strategic partnerships, talent development, and cultural exchange, AiF continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of African cinema.
