The Accra Indie Filmfest (AiF) is proud to announce the launch of the 7th edition of its annual international short film festival, slated for 4th to 9th August 2025 in direct partnership with the Alliance Francaise, Ghana. This year’s theme, “Disruption – Vision of Tomorrow”, reflects a critical moment in global cinema where the status quo is being questioned, and new creative ecosystems are emerging. It is clear that the future of storytelling lies in the hands of bold, visionary creatives who aren’t afraid to disrupt the present in order to reimagine the future.

Since its inception in 2019, AiF has evolved into one of Africa’s most dynamic platforms for short films and cross-cultural cinematic exchange. With past editions adapting through digital and hybrid formats during the pandemic years, the festival has continuously championed innovation, inclusion, and the amplification of new voices in storytelling.

The 2025 edition promises a rich 6-day experience featuring film screenings, masterclasses, music concert, industry conversations, networking forums, award ceremony, and so much more all curated to engage and inspire the next generation of filmmakers and audiences alike.

Another key highlight of this year’s festival is the return of AiF Pitch Series as AiF Talent Connect 2025, a short film market where filmmakers with works in progress can pitch their projects for a chance to be selected to pitch at Talent Connexion at the 48th edition of Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France. This programme is supported by the Creation Africa Ghana and more details on call for projects will be announced soon.

Having received over 500 submissions from 100+ countries, this year’s festival is poised to offer one of the most diverse and thought-provoking lineups yet. Official selections will be announced in the coming weeks.

Accra Indie Filmfest remains a non-profit organization with a mission to empower emerging and independent filmmakers across the world. By nurturing fresh talent and building global partnerships, AiF continues to play a pivotal role in redefining Africa’s cinematic identity.
