Accra Indie Filmfest (AiF) is proud to unveil the official selection for the 8th edition of its annual international short film festival, scheduled to take place from 27th to 31st July 2026 in Accra, Ghana under the compelling theme: “Resilience in Motion.”
This year’s edition will showcase 43 officially selected short films from 22 countries, alongside 2 special screening films, bringing the total number of participating films to 45. The selected films represent a vibrant and diverse collection of stories from across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Americas, and beyond, reflecting the evolving realities, struggles, triumphs, and creative resilience of filmmakers around the world.
In an era marked by global uncertainties, rapid transformation, and shifting cultural landscapes, the theme “Resilience in Motion” celebrates the enduring power of storytelling and the determination of creatives who continue to move forward despite challenges. The 2026 lineup explores themes of identity, migration, social justice, community, healing, memory, resistance, and hope, capturing the spirit of perseverance that defines contemporary cinema today.
Since its establishment in 2019, Accra Indie Filmfest has grown into one of Africa’s leading platforms for independent short films and cross-cultural cinematic exchange. Through its commitment to showcasing bold and emerging voices, AiF continues to bridge filmmakers, audiences, and industry stakeholders from different parts of the world while contributing to the growth of Africa’s creative ecosystem.
