“Till Death” Animation Short Film Selected for Annecy International Animation Film Festival

The animation short film “Till Death,” directed by the talented Kofi Kyei, has been officially selected for the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival. This recognition marks a significant milestone for Kofi Kyei and the entire team behind this remarkable project.

Till Death” is a collaborative effort between Saber Films and visual storytelling, design and tech company Acute Formula. The film features the voices of renowned actors Fiifi Coleman and Ama K. Abebrese, bringing the characters to life with their captivating performances.

Kofi Kyei, who gained acclaim with his last feature film “95,” released in 2019, has once again demonstrated his storytelling prowess and innovative approach to filmmaking. “95” was well-received by audiences and critics alike, setting high expectations for Kyei’s future projects.

The journey of “Till Death” began during the first edition of the “Director’s Call” screenplay contest, organized by filmmaker Peter Sedufia and his OldFilm Production studio. Initially conceived as a very short film of less than two minutes, the project underwent significant changes in story and materials, evolving into this animation. “So, this project started off as a very, very short film, less than 2 minutes. But we changed the story and some materials, and it’s now about 8 minutes long,” Kofi Kyei shared in an exclusive chat with our publication.

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival, held annually in Annecy, France, is one of the most prestigious animation festivals in the world. It is also an Oscar-qualifying festival, making it a coveted platform for filmmakers and animators to showcase their work. Founded in 1960, Annecy has a rich history of celebrating the art of animation, providing a global stage for both established and emerging talents. The festival includes a variety of competitions, screenings, and industry events, including the MIFA (Marché international du film d’animation) pitch sessions, where selected projects are presented to industry professionals.
