At a press conference held yesterday, Wednesday 1st of December 2021, the makers of ‘Terminus‘ revealed that the film is scheduled for official release on 7th January 2022.
The film is a crime thriller that seeks to create awareness about the dangers of the activities of big pharma and pharmaceutical products mostly shipped to Africa and some other parts of the world.
The film’s plot is about a Ghanaian chemist, who in the bid to vindicate his company in a lawsuit stumbles on something even more dangerous in the process – a hidden chemical formula in painkillers and antibiotics altered for testing and profit gains by a pharmaceutical giant. With his life on the line, he must go to all extents to help uncover the truth to help save many lives.
The general public got a first glimpse of Terminus at GhMovieCon 2020 when attendees were shown an exclusive one-minute teaser that was so good the audience requested that it be played again. Hitherto the project had been kept under wraps and was filming secretly without much public knowledge.
Speaking at the press conference, writer, director and co-producer Abu Iddris said ‘Terminus film was made to give worth to audience’s time and money, like on any good cinema day out to see a world standard masterpiece.” He also stressed, “This is a film you pay for and want to pay for again for a repeat of the show”.
Terminus was shot entirely in Ghana by production companies, Cine-God Studios and MK Content, led by Abu Iddris and Mawuko Kuadzi respectively. It was executive produced by Rita Efuah Baatimah & Gabriel Nyanin Baatimah, owners of City Outlook Entertainment.
The film’s production started as far back as 2019 and had gone through several hurdles including having to temporally suspend shooting during the COVID 19 pandemic.
Executive Producer, Rita Afua Baatimah stated, “..regardless of all the challenges we faced as a team, I’m proud to say we pulled through it beautifully. I love everything about Terminus most especially it’s subject of concern.”
The film also appears to have an agenda of woman empowerment. Terminus showcases the ingenious ways by which women can showcase their skills, drive intellect and vision to disrupt the male-dominated industry. In the film, women are seen in some very important positions that are otherwise most often occupied by men. It introduces to audiences, the first and independent Ghanaian female president whose government faces the toughest of tests any nation can survive, a female director of operations at the organized crimes Ghana, etc.
Mawuko Kuadzi, C.E.O of MK Content and MK Casting added that Terminus amplifies the conversation about global health care. And that, choosing to tell a fictional yet possible story of the reality of the pharmaceutical industries, is purely to educate through entertainment, and not to ridicule any specific pharmaceutical company or any known product.
The film’s cast lineup includes Adjetey Annan, Helen Lois, Oscar Provencal, Beverly Afaglo, Salma Mumin, Gina Castle, Andrew Tandoh Adote, Manaf Yussif, Joseph Otsiman, Anthony Woode, Jeffery Nortey, Joseph Otsiman, Kobina Sam and Cecilia Anno-Banieh.
The action-thriller is scheduled to be official premiere on Friday, 7th January 2022 at the Silverbird Cinemas West Hills Mall and Accra Mall with showing times 5:30 pm, 7:30 pm and 9:30 pm.
Second on my list of addictions is Movies.. the only thing I could possibly love more is my Dearest Waakye lol. Nothing else does a better job of reminding me that ANYTHING is possible with the right amount of effort. I have great eye for details and flaws in scripts. Shallow scripts bore me. I am an avid reader. Your everyday Mr Nice guy. Always the last to speak in a room full of smart people. Half Human, half Martian but full MOVIE FREAK.
