The acclaimed dramedy DIVINE419 – HAWKERS HUSTLE is now available to the public, capping off its impressive journey through various film festivals.

This film delves into the issue of fraudulent pastors in the streets of Accra, Ghana’s capital, following the narrative of a diligent street hawker who, in desperate need of money, turns to God.

Kwame, an aspiring actor and young hustling hawker, faces a challenging path to success. When he loses everything, the only apparent solution lies in embracing the teachings of God.

Having been showcased at numerous international film festivals, DIVINE419 has received notable recognition, including the Africa Rising Award (BSIFF Accra 2019), Baden-Wuerttembergischer Filmpreis (FSBW Stuttgart 2019), Dikalo Award (FIFP Cannes 2020), and more.

Filmed over nine days in Madina in 2018, the movie had its world premiere at the Black Star International Film Festival in Accra, Ghana, in 2019. A dedicated creative team comprising a local Ghanaian cast and crew collaborated with German director Johannes Krug to bring this compelling story to life.

In an interview with Acheampong Magazine, Johannes Krug shared the passion behind the project, calling DIVINE419 a labour of love. “I produced DIVINE419 as an independent student project, with a modest budget from crowdfunding to cover unavoidable expenses,” he explained.

Originally conceived as a series, the film’s 35-minute pilot episode, HAWKERS HUSTLE, also stands as a captivating short film.

Featuring remarkable performances by lead actors Fiifi Neizer and Evan Eghan, DIVINE419’s authentic documentary-style depiction of street preaching scenes adds depth to its narrative. A blend of drama and comedy, the film guarantees an entertaining experience.

Second on my list of addictions is Movies.. the only thing I could possibly love more is my Dearest Waakye lol. Nothing else does a better job of reminding me that ANYTHING is possible with the right amount of effort. I have great eye for details and flaws in scripts. Shallow scripts bore me. I am an avid reader. Your everyday Mr Nice guy. Always the last to speak in a room full of smart people. Half Human, half Martian but full MOVIE FREAK.
